Pokémon Go’s “Journey to Paldea” event takes us back to, well, Paldea, featuring Pokémon that can be found in that region, alongside the debut of Nacli, the rock salt Pokémon. This event runs from Dec. 2-9.
This event also features doubled XP for winning raids and for evolving Pokémon, so now’s a good time to raid and complete some of those Pokédex entries that may require a new evolution.
Alongside this event, there’s also a new set of seasonal “Precious Paths” Special Research and you can buy a new Master Ball Masterwork Research, if you want.

Spinning a PokéStop during the event period may yield one of these tasks:
- Catch 5 different species of Pokémon (Nacli encounter)
- Make 10 great throws (Larvitar or Bagon encounter)
- Power up Pokémon 10 times (Nacli encounter)

Yes, some Pokémon only spawn on certain days. Notably, Dec. 6-7 are the big Community Weekend event days, so note that these spawns won’t show up during the event (2-5 p.m. in your local time).
*There is an “increased chance” of finding this shiny in the wild as part of the event.
